St. Lucie County Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) Application

FEMA via the Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) Money is designated to local non-profit organizations that help people in danger of losing their homes. The federal government designates the money nationwide based on unemployment and poverty statistics. Nationwide the agency will distribute $140 million this year. Since its inception in 1984 this program has contributed more than $2.10 billion to supplement and expand ongoing efforts to provide shelter, food and supportive services for homeless and hungry individuals. Criteria for awards were based on the most current 12-month national unemployment rates; the total number of unemployed within a jurisdiction; total people living below the poverty level; and the total population of that jurisdiction.

United Way of St. Lucie County's Cris Adams, Vice President of Community Impact, has been designated Chair of the local Emergency Food and Shelter Program board.
