Funding for nonprofits - Funders in St. Lucie County have joined together to establish a coordinated Coronavirus (COVID-19) Relief and Recovery application process. This funding process will provide assistance to nonprofit organizations in St. Lucie County whose staff, services and clients have been impacted by a disaster. Click here!

Reemployment Assistance - If your employment has been negatively impacted as a result of the mitigation efforts in Florida to stop the spread of COVID-19, you may be eligible to receive Reemployment Assistance. Click here!

Unemployment Assistance - Learn how to apply for unemployment benefits, workers’ compensation, welfare or temporary assistance, and other programs and services that can help if you lose your job. The federal government is allowing states to change their laws to provide unemployment insurance benefits related to the coronavirus (COVID-19). Each state’s rules may be different. Contact your state’s unemployment insurance program to learn about and apply for unemployment insurance. Click here!

FEMA – Temporary Local Hires - FEMA hires local residents, who are disaster survivors, to help their fellow citizens in the recovery process to add to disaster operational staffing. They allow disaster survivors to get back to work while adding to the long-term recovery of the local community and bring a special understanding of the problems faced by their fellow disaster survivors. Business Resources - The Florida Small Business Emergency Bridge Loan Program is currently available to small business owners located in all Florida counties statewide that experienced economic damage as a result of COVID-19. Click here!

Small Business Bridge Loan Program (SBDC):  0% interest; 12 month term; up to $50,000 loan; must have 2-100 employees

Economic Injury Disaster Loan Program (SBA): 3.75% interest (2.75% for non-profits); up to 30 year term; up to $2 million loan; the under 100 employee restriction does not apply for this program

Short-Time Compensation (STC): available to offset lost wages due to workforce reduction of hours and to avoid layoffs. Example:  An employee normally works a 40 hour work week. The employee’s work week is reduced by eight hours or 20 percent. If the employee had been laid off and totally unemployed and determined eligible for UC, the individual would have received a weekly benefit amount of $275.00. The employer submits an STC plan and the plan is approved. Under the STC plan, the employee would receive $55.00 of benefits (or 20 percent of $275) in addition to the 32 hours of wages earned from the employer.

Internet Services - Xfinity WiFi Free For Everyone: Xfinity WiFi hotspots across the country will be available to anyone who needs them for free – including non-Xfinity Internet subscribers. For a map of Xfinity WiFi hotspots, visit www.xfinity.com/wifi. Once at a hotspot, consumers should select the “xfinitywifi” network name in the list of available hotspots and then launch a browser.

AT&T – AT&T created a new Distance Learning and Family Connections Fund to give parents, students and teachers tools they need for at-home learning. The fund also will provide resources to maintain meaningful connections and bonding opportunities for those isolated from family and friends. Click here!

FPL - For customers experiencing hardship as a result of COVID-19, there are resources from FPL available to help, and to the extent they are available, they will continue to connect customers with resources from federal, state and local authorities. A good place to learn more is FPL.com/Help. For now, FPL also is suspending disconnections at least through the end of March.

Health Department - Many resources are available to help international, national, state and local governments, corporations and communities, and health care professionals develop preparedness plans and strengthen response to different scenarios. Click here!

Mustard Seed Ministries – Mustard Seed Ministries thrift stores and social services are open, including the curbside food pantry. Their ready to serve the community during the COVID-19 emergency.

Grace Way Village - Dinners Every Night from 5:00 - 6:00! Yes, that's right thanks to the Treasure Coast Food Bank and the Boys and Girls Club of America, GraceWay Village is able to offer a drive through dinner pick up 7 nights a week. Each car will receive a meal for each person in the car. Located at Grace Way Village, 1780 Hartman Rd Fort Pierce, Florida 34947

Boys and Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County – Free meals are available through March 30th, they are seeking 10 volunteers from 4pm-7pm at each of the Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County Clubhouse locations. No one seeking a meal will be turned away, until all meals are gone. Click here!

St. Lucie Public Schools - St. Lucie Public Schools Child Nutrition Services Department will serve free meals to children in St. Lucie County from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday – Friday. The meals include both breakfast and lunch. Click here!

IRS - Individuals: Income tax payment deadlines for individual returns, with a due date of April 15, 2020, are being automatically extended until July 15, 2020, for up to $1 million of their 2019 tax due. This payment relief applies to all individual returns, including self-employed individuals, and all entities other than C-Corporations, such as trusts or estates. IRS will automatically provide this relief to taxpayers.  Taxpayers do not need to file any additional forms or call the IRS to qualify for this relief.

Corporations: For C Corporations, income tax payment deadlines are being automatically extended until July 15, 2020, for up to $10 million of their 2019 tax due. Click here!

Stimulus - President Trump signed the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFRCA) effective on April 2, 2020. This new law requires employers with up to 500 employees to provide paid sick leave and paid family leave while also providing a refundable payroll tax credit to employers to cover 100% of the cost of wages.
