How the CARES Act can help you in St. Lucie County?

ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FL – Our community is currently facing overwhelming challenges due to COVID-19, but St. Lucie County is no stranger to hardship. We are fortunate that our nonprofit community has come together to change lives during this pandemic. United Way of St. Lucie County and St. Lucie County Board of County Commissioners are partnering together to administer a grant program, which is funded as part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (“CARES”) Act federal stimulus package.

In addition to the relief, emergency financial support is being offered through the Nonprofit Grant Program on a first-come, first-serve basis. This grant is available for only nonprofit and faith-based organizations. Funding for revenue loss due to COVID-19 is an ineligible expense under the Nonprofit Grant Program. The applications will be available on August 24th and will remain open until all funds are expended.

To qualify for the grant, nonprofits and faith-based organizations must:

  • Operate out of a physical, brick-and-mortar facility located in St. Lucie County.
  • Be a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization.
  • Have an active state business registration from the Florida Division of Corporations.
  • Have been operational and actively conducting business in St. Lucie County on or before July 1, 2019.

The application is available here. It’s electronic and must be completed through the website. Any questions concerning the application can be directed to Deana Shatley, Director of Collaborative Impact (772) 464-3500 or Deana.Shatley@UnitedWaySLC.org
