FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Come One, Come All

Fort Pierce, FL, July 15, 2013– School supplies for children in need will be sorted
and packed at Forest Grove Middle School on Saturday, July 27th, Wednesday, July 31st, and Saturday, August 3rd.This is the last phase of a project that will provide 4,000 school children in St. Lucie County with the supplies they need to succeed in school.

Started in 1997, School Supplies for Students has provided more than 47,000 packages of supplies at the beginning of the school year in August. All St. Lucie County Schools are recipients of the supplies in addition to several non-profit agencies that serve children and their families. Even small children can walk through the assembly line with the help of an adult and fill a backpack with supplies,” said Cris
Adams, the lead on this project. “This is a great opportunity for community groups and individuals to give back by volunteering their time.”

Supplies are donated by businesses, community organizations and individuals. Bulk supplies are also purchased with financial donations. Each backpack is filled with age and grade appropriate supplies that in clude crayons for kindergarteners and pens and composition books for older children. County schools and organizations will pick up their assigned backpacks and supplies once the sorting and packing is completed and they are responsible for distribution to children they serve.
