Women United Lunch & Learn on Children's Mental Health

Thank you to everyone who attended the Women United Lunch and Learn on Friday, February 22 at HopCat in Port St. Lucie. There were nearly 45 attendees who engaged in interesting discussions about children’s mental health. The guest speakers were Sharon L’Herrou from 211 Palm Beach and Treasure Coast, Jeff Shearer from Tykes & Teens, and Deborah Dreher, RN, DNP, from New Horizons Mental Health. The reason for this event was to recruit women to learn about community issues, volunteer, and help bring more supporters to the United Way of St.

The 5th Annual Dickerson Ultimate Drive Golf Tournament

The St. Lucie County Board of County Commissioners and Fairwinds Golf Course hosted the 5th Annual Dickerson Ultimate Drive Golf Tournament benefiting United Way of St. Lucie County. Eighteen holes of championship golf and beautiful weather for the day. Golfers enjoyed a continental breakfast, seafood paella and barbecue provided by The Paella King, The Rusty Putter, and Bonner Mobile bar. As well as competed for prizes for longest drive, closest to the pin, putting contest and various raffles.

Women United helping homeless children in St. Lucie County

There are nearly 1800 students in St. Lucie County Public Schools who are classified as homeless. This includes couch surfing, people who are living in a place not meant for human habitation, in an emergency shelter, or in transitional housing. On Saturday, May 18th Women United, an affinity group of United Way of St. Lucie County, packed 542 backpacks with toiletries that consist of travel sized shampoo, conditioner, bar soap, deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste and new underwear for homeless children in St. Lucie County Public Schools.

Women United Recruitment Event

Thank you to everyone who attended the Women United Recruitment Event on Thursday, January 24th at Recovery Sports Grill in Port St. Lucie. It was a casual event with nearly 20 attendees who engaged in interesting discussions about community work. There were light appetizers, drinks, and networking amongst the guests. The reason for this event was to recruit women to learn about community issues, volunteer, and help bring more supporters to the United Way of St. Lucie County.
